A conservatory can be a stunning addition to any home adding extra space with endless uses, creating a room with light and space and giving year round views of the garden, as well as adding value to your home.
Orangeries on the other hand represent the ideal combination of the benefits and looks of a conventional extension. They are wonderfully light and airy spaces due to the glazed roofs as well as being cosy and inviting throughout the year.
What's the difference...?
- Conservatories are characterised by simpler styling with a slim structure and a larger glazed roof.
- Dating back to the 17th century and originally built for growing exotic plants and fruits, orangeries generally have more columns and are characterised by a glazed lantern within a flat roof.
- A feature of traditional orangeries is the fantastic range of roof lanterns which transform the room bringing in a real sense of light and space.
